Photography Workshops - Detailed Information
Take control of the Camera
In this workshop we will explore the many buttons and settings on a modern DSLR or Mirrorless camera. My aim is that you will soon become familiar with the majority of commonly used settings. This will allow you to take control of your camera and put you in charge of producing great images.
We will cover and explore the following:-
We will also take a very brief look at composition, framing an image and positioning your subjects within the frame to achieve a pleasing image.
The workshop is hands on location based. We meet up at the start venue and begin with an informal chat with refreshments for about an hour where we explore the camera and look at the various settings. We will then go out and start taking photos for several hours. As a small group of no more than 5 attendees I am on hand to readily give hints and tips to help implement the various settings and improve your images. To conclude we will have a chat about the day and evaluate our images.

To make a booking please send me an email stating which workshop date you wish to attend and how many people you are booking for. I will raise an invoice and you can pay by Bank Transfer or PayPal. Payment to be made in full at point of booking, and no later than ten days prior to the workshop date.

- A look inside a digital camera and how it works
- Finding your way around a camera - what all the letters and numbers mean!
- Setting up a camera for general use
- Lenses - how to choose the best lens for the desired outcome
- Exposure including light metering
- Get off "Auto" - explore the main shooting modes and when they should be used
- White balance
- Light Sensitivity - ISO
- Focus - types of auto focus, manual focus
- Depth of field
- EV settings
- Reading a histogram
- Image Size and Quality, File types Jpeg. Camera Raw
- Colour Space

- Battery (fully Charged)
- Lens(es)
- Spare Memory Card (not essential)
- Sturdy Tripod
- Spare Batteries (Fully Charged)
- Note Book
- Appropriate Clothing / Footwear
